The Link NCA was carried out in the Satkhira district where AAH has been working since 2011 in response to the emergency situation caused by flooding.

The under nourishment rates remain high in Satkhira. Indeed, the prevalence rate of global acute malnutrition reached 13.8%. Insufficient maternal nutrition is another cause for concern in the region.

The following major risks have been identified:

  • Inappropriate supplementary feeding practices,
  • Inadequate initiation and continuation of exclusive breastfeeding, adolescent pregnancies,
  • Poor attention to psychosocial health and general health of pregnant women including nourishment of the same,
  • Lack of opportunities to generate income,
  • Poor water quality and sanitation conditions.
