Democratic Republic of Congo
Kasai Occidental / 2014
by Action Against Hunger US (SIDA)

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), despite repeated nutritional interventions, has one of the largest populations of malnourished children in the world. It has been estimated that every year, one in ten children are affected by severe acute malnutrition, in DRC. Kasai Occidental is one of the most affected regions of severe malnutrition, with high rates of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and global acute malnutrition. ACF consequently decided to launch a sustainable project in the area called, "Addressing the Crisis in Kalomba Nutritional Health Zone, Kasai Occidental Province and Learning through Action" funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). This project is based on an in depth understanding of the nutrition context of the region, which was in part, provided by this Link NCA report.
